GPs
Dr Michael Peters
BSc, MB, Ch.B, DA, FRCGP
Dr Peters has worked for the NHS for 23 years and in general practice for 13. He trained at Leeds and has been a hospital practitioner in orthopaedic trauma. He has also worked for HM prison service. His special interests are skin problems, rheumatology and orthopaedics.
Dr Ram Arora
MBBS MRCGP DRCOG DFFP
Dr Arora did his original medical training in India. In the UK he qualified as a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (part 1) and the Royal College of Surgeons (part 1). He is also a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and the Royal College of GPs. His special interests are in ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) and Ophthalmology (Eyes).
He speaks English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.
Dr Sheeja Kolangara
MBBS, MRCGP
Dr Kolangara qualified in Bangalore, India in 2006 and did her GP training in the UK.
She speaks English, Hindi, Tamil and Urdu and her special interests are in sexual health, palliative medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, and women’s health.
Dr Caroline Baker
MBChB, DFFP, Dip HE Addictive Studies
Dr Baker graduated from Bristol in 1978. She holds a diploma in addictive studies and has had experience in prisoner health and drugs clinics. Her special interests are in addiction and substance misuse, and general psychiatry. She also has some experience of homeopathy and complementary therapies.
Dr Mark Kingston (Medical Director)
MA, MB, BChir (Cantab), MBA, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFSRH
Dr Kingston is Medical Director and Chairman of Carfax Health Enterprise and the senior GP in the practice. He qualified at Cambridge and St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and has held a number of appointments as medical director including Wiltshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Wiltshire & Swindon Healthcare NHS Trust and Blaenau Gwent Local Health Board. He is currently also Medical Director for Bristol Community Health.
His special interests are in minor surgery and contraception.
Dr Janet Maxwell
BM, DRCOG, DCH, MSc, MRCGP FFPH
Dr Maxwell qualified at Southampton Medical School in 1977 and worked as a GP partner in Oxfordshire for 15 years. She now works part time as a GP at Carfax Health Enterprise and part time as Director of Public Health for Berkshire West. She is concerned with trying to improve healthcare for people with drug and alcohol problems, homeless people and offenders.
Dr Mohammad Imran Malik
MBBS, MRCGP, DGM(1), Certificate in Substance Misuse Part 1
Dr Malik graduated in 1999. After doing his internship in Pakistan, he worked as a GP in Saudi Arabia for three years. He did his GP training in the UK in Wales, and worked as a speciality doctor in A & E.
He speaks English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu and his areas of special interest include respiratory diseases and the care of older people.
Dr Arun Vajpey
MBBS, DMRD, DA
Dr Vajpey came to the UK in 1985 after working in general practice and radiology in India. He has worked in the UK as an anaesthetist, and also as a GP in Leicestershire, Swindon and Calne. His special interests are minor surgery and respiratory medicine.
The Nursing Team
The Practice has a team of around 20 nurses, including a bank of reserves. Many have specialist qualifications and experience and some are qualified to prescribe certain medicines in their own right.
